My Story

A life still in progress

I didn’t begin because I felt ready. I began because I couldn’t keep watching the people I love carry everything alone.

Before the decision

I was struggling too. I watched things around us begin to fall apart and felt helpless because nobody seemed to be there to take responsibility. I didn’t want my family to keep feeling that way.

My sister was in hospital. My mum was carrying loans, debts and other financial pressures, with no proper rest day and no proper place for us to sleep. I saw how much she kept going through, and how much she deserved beyond simply surviving each day.

I wasn’t financially able to fix it all. I still had to learn how to stand on my own feet. The first change was accepting that I had to take responsibility for what I could do, then start learning, trying and figuring things out.

The moment that changed my direction

I didn’t want them to feel helpless anymore.

I accepted that responsibility had to start with me. I began from nothing, learning through the things I tried, the things I got wrong and the ways I had to grow. I’m not financially where I want to be yet. I’m preparing mentally and physically to become someone who can give my family more.

What I’m building toward

A future with more room to breathe

For my mum

She worked incredibly hard and kept going through debt, believing I could eventually help change things. I want her to have the rest, security and freedom she deserves.

For my sister

I want my sister to have the care and treatment she deserves, and for our family to have the means to travel and experience more of life.

Preparing from where I am

I’m not claiming I’ve made it. I’m building myself mentally and physically while I learn, practise and work out the next step.

Learning in public

This site is a record of the process as it happens: the lessons, the attempts and the person I’m becoming along the way.

This is still the beginning

I want my family to have the life my mum worked so hard to make possible: proper care, time to rest, travel and the freedom to enjoy more than just getting through the day. I’m still working toward it, one real step at a time.
